- Know how Clause E1 applies to their line of work.
- Know how the Building Act fits into Clause E1.
- Know where to get a copy of Clause E1 and further information about surface water drainage systems.
- Understand the terminology use in Clause E1.
- Understand the objective and functional requirements of Schedule 1.
- Understand the first, second and third performance criteria of the First Schedule.
- Know where the verification method applies.
- Understand the basic design aspects of the verification method: culverts, outfall protection and soak pits.
- Know where the acceptable solution applies.
- Understand the basic methodology for sizing of surface water drains.
- Understand the use and construction of a sump.
- Know where access points are required in a drainage system.
